Helping students develop a deeper relationship with Christ.

 Hurricane IKE, Sept. 13, 2008

Hurricane Ike was the 4th costliest disaster in American history.  It brought with it the largest storm surge of any Atlantic storm, EVER.  Yet no one really knows anything about it.  Still, almost two later, the people in this region continue their struggle to recover with only a fraction of the volunteers and funding other areas received after Hurricane Katrina. Most major support is gone, but the need for help remains.

· More than 3,000 families lost their homes entirely.

· Storm surges were up to 20 feet in some areas.

· Nearly 75% of the buildings on Galveston Island were damaged.

· For every $1 spent on 2005 Gulf Coast hurricane relief, Hurricane Ike victims receive less than 10¢

For Spring Break 2010, TCF traveled to Galveston to help One Mission Galveston intheir work to save homes and give hope to the people.  This summer, two of our students, Abby and Sam returned and spent thier summers serving God by serving the people of Galveston.

Sam has decided to stay on as staff at One Mission and we are supporting her as God's servant financially and with love and prayers.  She will be keeping us up to date on the pain and problems as well as the progress in Galveston.

We love you Sam!
